Show the text differences between two versions of a PDF — page by page, with automatic alignment of inserted or removed pages.
The comparison is based on the text extracted from each PDF — it doesn't detect differences in images, color or vector graphics alone. With automatic alignment, pages present in both files are assumed to be in the same relative order (it doesn't detect pages that swapped places, only inserted/removed ones).
Choose the old and new versions of the document you want to compare.
Select whether pages should be compared by position (page 1 with page 1) or whether the tool should try to align them automatically, even if pages were inserted or removed between the two versions.
Changed, added or removed text is visually highlighted, page by page, for a quick review.
The comparison works at the text level — it detects sentences, words and paragraphs that were changed, added or removed between the two versions. Purely visual differences in images aren't highlighted in the same way.
In automatic alignment mode, the tool tries to detect that shift and keep comparing the matching content correctly, instead of comparing pages in the wrong position; in fixed positional alignment mode, each page is always compared with the page in the same position in the other file.
Text comparison needs a real text layer in both files; for a scanned PDF without text, use "Make PDF searchable" first before comparing.
