This tool changes the PDF's info dictionary and, optionally, its XMP — no server required, everything happens in your browser. Editing the metadata of a digitally signed PDF invalidates that signature (the tool warns you when it detects one). Password-protected files must first be unlocked with "Remove password".

Frequently asked questions

Does changing the metadata change the PDF's visible content?

No — metadata is information about the file (title, author, keywords), not the content of the pages; the document keeps the same text and images, only the descriptive information changes.

What is this metadata actually used for?

It helps you organize and find documents (for example, the title appears in the browser tab and in internal search engines), and it's useful for identifying a file's author and purpose without having to open it.

Can I remove all the metadata instead of editing it?

Yes, you can usually clear the fields so they're empty, if you'd rather the PDF didn't expose any author, title or other properties.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens inside your own browser — the file never leaves your computer or passes through any external server. You can confirm this by disconnecting from the internet once the page has loaded: the tool keeps working normally.

Do I need to create an account or pay anything?

No. PDFsy doesn't ask for sign-up, an account or payment — just open the page and use the tool.

Is PDFsy an alternative to iLovePDF?

Yes. PDFsy offers PDF tools equivalent to iLovePDF's — merge, convert, compress, protect and much more — available in 25 languages, with no usage limits, no need to create an account, and 100% local processing in your browser, without uploading any file to any server.
